Head's Newsletter

Dear Pupils, Parent, Staff, and Governors,

I am delighted to announce that Nursery and Reception will also participate in our second year of the Forest School Learning Programme which takes place in Paddington Recreation Ground. Many of you will know that the Forest School initiative originated in Denmark’s outdoor learning experience and was introduced to the UK in 1993. Forest School provides a safe environment for children to: engage with nature, learn new skills, have fun, become more independent, and be encouraged in a positive learning environment which enhances their self-esteem. Last year, Forest School enabled enriching cross-curricular links so that children were using their outdoor learning experiences as a positive stimulus in Science Lessons, independent writing tasks in English, data analysis in Maths or even in their DT and Art work. I am sure that the Nursery and Reception children will also benefit from this enjoyable experience.

Please ensure that you attend the School Association AGM on Tuesday 24th September at 6pm in the school hall. All parents are members of the School Association and this meeting is the perfect opportunity to meet people and get involved. All are very welcome.

It is great to see all of the children looking so smart, and more importantly, taking such pride in their school uniforms and personal presentation. Please keep up the good work.
Please also ensure that you send us the relevant information regarding your child’s medical conditions and that you send in the accompanying valid medication directly to your child’s class teacher. We are now in week 2 and this is extremely important in order to ensure your child’s well-being.

On Friday 20th September we will be celebrating our Welcome Mass with Fr. Kevin at 2pm in the school hall. All parents are most welcome and I am sure the children would love to see you there. From 4-6 pm we will also be holding our Family Fun Day, a SJSA fund-raising initiative which is also a wonderful way of celebrating the St. Joseph’s school family. For further information on this event please contact Mrs Gorman.

On Friday 27h September will be holding our Macmillan coffee morning, in the hall at 8:15. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help so far. Please note, we need raffle prizes such as wine, vouchers or chocolates. Please contact Mr Bowles if you would like to volunteer or if you would like any information on how you could help. Please bake a cake, bring a croissant and come and join us for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat and raise some money for this very good cause.

This weekend Jarvis will be going home with Guillaume who has lived out our Mission Statement to the full not only embracing every learning opportunity but also showing God’s love to his classmates, especially those who may be finding it harder to settle in a new school or class.

May God bless you and keep you and your family safe.
