Head's Newsletter

Dear Pupils, Parents, Staff, and Governors,

Over the next three weeks, the children in Year 2 will be taking part in the National KS1 SATs Assessments. The weekly homework and the timetable will continue as normal and the children are mostly unaware that they are doing the tests. I therefore ask you not to discuss them at home but to ensure that they get plenty of rest, eat a good breakfast and are in school every day no later than 8:50 am.

Equally, in Y6, the children will be completing their SATs exams and I would like to reiterate the importance of rest and relaxation. To that end, we are providing breakfast to all Y6 pupils from Monday 13th to Thursday 16th May from 8:15 am. I know that Year 6 have worked really hard and will do their very best. We are here to support them in all of their endeavours and, of course, we also rely on your continued support as parents.

Tests, exams and results are one part of a child’s education and whilst I am proud of our excellent academic record, we also value the rich curriculum opportunities which we offer. Indeed, next week, is Science Week and Miss Dowling has a very busy and interesting week planned where the children will be either visiting the Zoo, participating in Urban-wise at Paddington Recreation Ground or having Sublime Science on Thursday and Friday.

In other news, we will be bidding a fond farewell to Miss Dowling who will be leaving us to pursue other ventures. We thank her most sincerely for all of her hard work and wish her every success in the future. I am however delighted to announce that Mrs Meadway will be returning to us after the half-term and will teach Blue 1 for the rest of the school year. Also, Mrs Priestley will be taking a temporary leave of absence to care for her mother in New Zealand. I am sure you will join me in keeping Mrs Priestley and her family in your prayers.

Jarvis is going home with Sherman today because his teachers have all been impressed with his behaviour and manners. Sherman is a super role model for the rest of the class sets a fantastic example to his peers with his perseverance, hard work and kind nature and I know he will look after Jarvis very well over the weekend.

May God bless you and keep you and your family safe.
