Head's Newsletter

Dear Pupils, Parent, Staff, and Governors,

This week we have been celebrating Poetry and it was lovely to see our KS1 and KS2 students reciting poetry to their relatives in our Poetry Together initiative. Children have delighted in this opportunity to perform and to share their learning with their family, showing greater confidence and knowledge of poetic conventions while giving the poems performed their own unique interpretation. Many thanks to our guests for supporting this event, our teachers for enthusing their pupils and to Miss Brooks, our Y6 teacher and English Lead for coordinating the initiative. Our school’s continued focus on stimulating a love of literacy has also been demonstrated in the Scholastic Book Week which has provided more opportunities for pupils to develop their love of reading and writing through books. Thank you to the parents involved in running the Book Fair which will continue to contribute to our English Resources given that book sales become reward vouchers which we can use to improve our Book Corners and Library stock.

This week we also celebrated the Feast of St. Therese and the Feast of St. Francis – led by Mrs Robinson, our RE coordinator but also hosted by our House Captains and Vice Captains. It was wonderful to see our Y6 pupils rise to their roles with great maturity and reverence.

Next week will see the launch of the Read-a-thon, our regular fund-raiser which not only encourages the children’s love of reading but will also help in purchasing much needed resources including Interactive White Boards and a Reading and Writing Den.

We are also holding our Parent Teacher Consultations on Wednesday and Thursday and would like to invite you to a new initiative on Thursday 10th October hosted by our school nurse which will be focusing on discussing Care Plans. This is of particular importance to any family with queries concerning their child’s medical conditions (Asthma, Allergies etc.) and the school nurse will be in the hall at 9:30 for a brief Care Plan update followed by a second opportunity for advice during the parent teacher consultations themselves from 2pm on Thursday 10th.

On Friday 11th October, Reception parents will be hosting our regular Harvest Supper celebrations. This is a wonderful opportunity for Nursery parents to meet and mingle, enjoy wonderful food and to learn more about the school. If you are a Reception or a Nursery parent, please contact Miss Wyndle or Mr Bowles if you would like to donate a dish or need tickets for the event.

May God bless you and keep you and your family safe.
