Dear Pupils, Parent, Staff, and Governors,
Wow! What a week it has been. The children and staff have been extremely busy and active visiting Kew Gardens, London Zoo and Paddington Rec. We also had workshops with owls, falcons and even a kookaburra. The children have certainly learnt a lot about living things and the natural world and have been inspired with the beauty of science. Thank you to all of the many parents who accompanied the classes on their various trips.
I would like to congratulate Miss Ward who works in the Pink classes for gaining 7 firsts during her first year at university. Miss Ward in currently completing her Foundation degree in Learning and Teaching and I know that she will one day be a truly outstanding teacher. Mrs Robinson has also been awarded a distinction in her Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies qualification which is a great achievement. St Joseph’s is a true learning community!
As you will be aware, GDPR comes into effect today. We will be having a parent partnership meeting next term to discuss any implications that this new legislation holds for parents.
When booking holidays, could parents please remember that they cannot take their children out of school during term time. This includes taking out children early on the last day or returning late on the first day back. Thank you for your co-operation.
Vashti Hardy, author of Brightstorm, will be visiting Y5 and Y6 on Friday 8th June.
There will not only be the opportunity for students to meet and ask the author questions but to purchase signed copies of her book. Please use the order form (parent-mailed and in children's bags) to pre-order Brightstorm, a Sky-Ship adventure story focusing on the courageous explorations of Arthur and Maudie Brightstorm. It is because of your continued support that we, as a school, are able to work alongside Tales on Moon Lane - a prestigious children's book-shop - and authors of such calibre and interest.
Please remember that the children come back to school on Tuesday 5th June. Monday is an Inset day for staff training.
May God bless you and keep you and your family safe.
Mrs K Husain
