Head's Newsletter

Dear Pupils, Parents, Staff, and Governors,

May I take this opportunity to wish all of the families and friends of St Joseph’s a Happy New Year.  I hope that 2018 is full of hope, joy and happiness both in school and outside of school.  It was lovely to see the children returning after the Christmas break full of enthusiasm and energy.  Long may it continue!

Today, Blue and Violet classes celebrated the wonderful feast of the Epiphany at mass at Our Lady’s.  As usual, the children were very well behaved and were a credit to St Joseph’s.

Please may I urge you to make a new year’s resolution to be punctual for school.  The gates open at 8:40 and children should be in class by 8:50.  This gives them the chance to hang up their coats, unpack their bags and get ready for the register at 9am.  Either assemblies or lessons start at 9am and so it is important that the children are school and ready to learn.

This also seems like a good time to remind everybody about uniform.  The School has a compulsory, practical uniform for all pupils while they are engaged in school activities on or off the premises.  By adhering to this policy, the children will see that parents support the school and they will be teaching them that it is important to follow rules.  School uniform includes coats, bags, hats and shoes.  All items of clothing should be clearly marked with the child’s name.

This term, the whole school will be looking at British Values: democracy, the rule of law, liberty, respect and tolerance.  Our merits for the term will be focussing on one value per week and the children will be learning about each value in class. Please talk to the children at home about these values.

Thank you in advance for your continued cooperation in making the pupils of St Joseph’s look smart; think smart and be on time.

May God bless you and keep you and your family safe.
