Head's Newsletter

I am delighted to have been appointed Headteacher at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School – a place that I love.  I will begin in September and until then, continue to work hard with Mrs. Richardson and the staff to ensure that all children thrive.  Thank you all for your kind wishes and the support that has been offered to me over the last week.  As I said to the children, I am very lucky to be working with the best children, staff, governors and families in the world!

I am proud that at St Joseph’s that we find the necessary balance between being academically outstanding and uncompromising in expecting the best outcomes for all our students, whilst at the same time ensuring that all our children feel safe and secure and have opportunities to develop as fully-rounded people. I am very much looking forward to leading such a wonderful, vibrant and happy school. I am confident that your son or daughter will be both challenged and cherished in their time at St Joseph’s. I want you to feel confident that I take this responsibility seriously and will endeavour to do my very best for every individual child in my care.

This week both children and staff have enjoyed Book week.  It has been a joy to see the children dressed up as book characters today and really engaging with books and reading.   Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who have been into school this week to read to the children.  It is so important the children experience the pleasure of reading.

On Wednesday children from year 3-6 attended mass at Our Lady’s for Ash Wednesday and I was very proud of the way that they conducted themselves- something that was commented on by more than one parishioner. The younger children partook in a very reflective prayer service with Fr Jeff in school.  All the children have thought about what they can do in Lent to prepare for Easter and we will be collecting for Mary’s Meals from next week.

Best wishes,
Mrs. Husain

A message from the Governor’s

As some of you may already be aware the Government issued the 2nd stage consultation on ‘Schools National Funding Formula’ just before Christmas.  The formula seeks to redistribute funds across schools nationally based on revised criteria and benchmarks, in the main schools within London from March 2018 are set to receive lower funding as a result.
To provide more background on education funding and the implications of the new formula for St. Joseph’s, the Governor’s will hold a presentation at the school at 6pm on Monday 13TH March.  You all have an opportunity to respond to the consultation but this closes on 22nd March, so please try and attend the presentation and respond to the consultation.
