Dear Pupils, Parents, Staff, and Governors,
Well it certainly is beginning to look and feel a lot like Christmas!
Watching the children taking part in their productions this week has been a fantastic way to end this first term. This week has been an absolute pleasure with all of the children performing absolutely brilliantly in the Christmas concerts. Key Stage Two sang beautifully in church and the Early Years and Key Stage One Nativities were a joy. I feel so lucky that the children, staff and parents work so well together and that together we are able to offer the very best support to all of the children.
The Winter Gala was a great success and really showed off the talents of lots of our parents. Get your thinking hats on for next year and prepare early.
On Monday, Karen Buck, Labour MP for Westminster North, awarded prizes to the successful Y6 Christmas Card competition winners - Rudy, Angelina and Luna-Belle. Congratulations to Harry for his winning design.
This afternoon, to show their appreciation and gratitude, the year 6 children hosted our support staff. The guests were treated to mince pies and sherry and the children chatted to them and sang carols. A good time was had by all and the year 6 children behaved responsibly, maturely and were great company.
On Wednesday we were invited to participate in the celebration of the festival of Chanukkah at The Liberal Jewish Synagogue in St. John's Wood. As the candles were lit, during this wonderful inter-faith gathering, we thought about how we could bring light to others through acts of kindness, friendship and love. Many thanks to the Najem family who enjoyed learning about Chanukkah and of course, our extended appreciation to The Liberal Jewish Synagogue for their generous hospitality - doughnuts and latkes (potato pancakes) were enjoyed by all.
Thank you to everybody who donated a winter coat this year as part of our drive with Chestertons. We have good news to report:
- A total of around 4,500 coats were collected this year PLUS 500 fleeces.
- Of the coats, around 2000 were from Chestertons.
- This is both a record for Chestertons (it is double last’s years number) a record for the charity!
Three of the year 6 children performed in Trafalgar Square last week and did a brilliant job. I think you will agree that they have a bright future in reporting and presenting ahead of them! Click on the image to view the video:
Christmas parties will take place on Monday afternoon. Children are invited to come to school in party clothes and bring £1 to cover the cost of party food that will be provided.
Usually at this time of year, the school buys the children presents as part of the Christmas celebrations. This year, the children decided that sometimes it is better to give than to receive and so the children in their classes have been busy selecting charities to donate to at Christmas time.
The selected charities are as follows:
Make a Wish Foundation
The Salvation Army
Oxfam –buying a goat
St John’s Hospice
St John's Hospice
Please remember that school finishes on Tuesday at 1:30.
May God bless you and family and keep you safe.
Have a very peaceful and happy Christmas.
Mrs K Husain
