Nursery News

This week we moved onto 'My Senses', talking about what we can use our different senses for,  and exploring using these  different senses. The children got to explore smell and sight displays in our investigation area.

A popular activity was the musical instruments. We played different listening games where we tried to identify the different sounds the instruments made and for many of the children it was learning what instrument was called and what sound it made. They had so much fun singing and playing together. We added to the environment classical music playing in the background. What was exciting to observe were the children playing and singing independently some of our morning greeting songs. Feedback from many of the parents is that the children are bringing these new songs home and singing them to their families.

Other activities we did were vegetable prints, baking banana bread and playing with cornflour and water. To continue our RE focus we  read each day the prayers the children wrote at home with their families. Thank you for your support with this. Using their  fingerprints we made rosary beads and we looked at a very large wooden set of rosary beads . Please take time to look at our RE wall and observe what the children have been doing. Please encourage your child to bring in prayers for the class and put them in our special prayer box. This will help consolidate our understanding of how we can talk to God.
Thank you to everyone who have brought tickets and made donations for our Harvest Supper. We know its going to be a great night and we  look forward to sharing this evening with you.
