Head's Newsletter

Dear Pupils, Parent, Staff, and Governors,

This has been another wonderful week at St Joseph’s culminating in today’s ‘Pyjama Party’.  It was so lovely to see the children arriving at school in their pyjamas ready to spend the afternoon reading.  We have seen a real enthusiasm for books and the children still have until 5th October to collect sponsors and keep reading.  Everybody who collects over £50 will be entered into a draw to win a kindle and everybody who reads for more than 18 sessions will also have a chance to win a kindle.  All children in each class will be entered into a draw to win a Waterstones voucher. This is a very exciting project and I am delighted that the children are able to develop their passion for reading in such a way. We will have photos in the class blog areas of the website very soon.

Democracy was in action this week when voting took place for our new House Captains.  Well done to all of the children in Year 6 who took part in hustings.  The votes have now been counted and verified and I would like to offer huge congratulations to our new House Captains.  I am sure they will be great role models.

House Captains 2016-2017

House Captains 2016-2017

Please remember that Tuesday is the School Association AGM, starting at 6pm in the school hall.  All parents are members of the School Association and this meeting is the perfect opportunity to meet people and get involved.  All are very welcome.

I would also like to thank all the parents who organised and contributed to last Friday’s International evening.  It was a great success with so many people saying that they enjoyed the opportunity to meet other parents in a relaxed and informal manner.  Thank you to you all.

On Friday 30th September will be holding our Macmillan coffee morning, in the hall at 8:50. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help so far.  Please bake a cake, bring a croissant and come and join us for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat and raise some money for this very good cause.

Due to Data protection laws, we are unable to circulate personal details (i.e. e mail addresses) of parents in school.  Class Volunteer Coordinators are asked to collate and circulate class details.  The role of the CVC is to help their class teacher organise volunteers for trips and visits.  If you wish to speak to your class teacher about any matter, please make an appointment in the office, or speak to them at the end of the school day.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. V. Richardson
Head teacher
