Head's Newsletter

Dear children, parents, staff and governors,

At today’sAchievement assembly,  we held theReadathon raffle, in recognition of the wonderful work the children and their families did to raise the sum of£14,521 (including gift Aid).  Children,  I do hope that you enjoyed reading so many books and I hope that you continue to do so because as you can see books open the world to our eyes and gives us all, children and adults, so much enjoyment.  I would like to thank all the parents who organised the event and the families and friends who sponsored their children so generously.

Another highlight of this week was the Poet Idol assembly on Wednesday.  Again the children were magnificent in their presentation oftheir favourite poems.  They either read in class groups, in which the Nursery and Reception classes excelled with their poems about the seasons. The nursery necklaces made of autumn leaves just added to the effect. Older children recited their favourite poems with great confidence and excellent timing. Many parents attended this assembly and I think they will agree with me that it was a very enjoyable occasion.  Also, I must thank the parents who have been coming into school throughout the week to recite their favourite poems to the children.  The children and staff really enjoyed their recitals.

Next Friday, October 21st, Reception class parents will be hosting the Harvest Coffee morning for the nursery parents.  This will be at 9am in the hall, just for reception and nursery parents. The Achievement assembly will be at 1.40pm instead of 9am. Parents are very welcome to attend.

Our Parent/ Teacher meetings will take place on Tuesday 18th, Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th of October.  As we will be using the hall for these meetings and teachers are meeting parents,  we will not be able to run the cookery, netball and Irish dancing clubs.  They will resume after the half term holiday.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. V. Richardson
Head Teacher
