Year 2

Pink Class News

We have had another fun and exciting week in the pink classes. Our topic this term is 'The Seaside' so the children have created some beautiful art pieces inspired by sun, sea and sand. We have been reading 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch' which has been a lot of fun. We even 'concocted' some delicious and scrumptious sandwiches of own. After all that work it was important to sample our work- the best part!

With Father's Day fast approaching, we celebrated all of the wonderful fathers with their very own prayer service. Thank you for doing all that you do and being you.

The Year 1 Auction Promise took place yesterday. Six very lucky children went to Regent's Park to see Peter Pan in the open-air theatre and they also had a picnic. Jarvis also went along and had so much fun exploring.

Next Thursday, Pink 1 will have their final assembly of the year. We hope you can make it.

We hope you have a Happy Father's Day

It has been a great start to our final term in the pink classes. In RE we have been learning about our topic - Reconciliation. The children have discussed rules and why we have them. We have also been thinking about how we feel when people disobey our rules and discovered that rules help to keep us safe and happy.

Next week will be a really busy week. Year 1 Phonics Screening will begin on Monday and continue for the next fortnight. On Tuesday, we will have school photographs so everybody will need to wear their full school uniform and black school shoes.

Finally, if your child is going on the Year 1 or Year 2 Auction promise, can you please inform the teachers involved. We will then inform you of our upcoming trips.

Have a lovely weekend!

This week has been an incredible week for Pink classes. For our 'Living Things' Science Week, we have been busy hunting for minibeasts in Paddington Rec.; classifiying animals into groups at London Zoo and we even met some very interesting birds of prey. Our classes also got to meet Roxy the Tortoise, some tadpoles and nine delightful chicks. Thank you to all the parents who made our trips possible and were so supportive of Science Week.

It was a particularly exciting week for Pink 2 as they had their class assembly on Thursday. The children performed so well and we all learned some interesting facts about the Great Fire of London. Well done, Pink 2!

It has been a wonderful week in the pink classes. Year 2 have successfully completed their SATs and we are al very proud of them in St. Joseph's.

We have been blessed with nine lovely chicks. They are happy and healthy in Nursery. They are a welcome addition in advance of 'Living Things Science Week' which begins on Monday. Pink classes are going to the zoo and on a 'Minibeast Safari'.

We are very sad as Miss Joshelyn is leaving our school. She has been such an asset to our team and helped colleagues and children with her calm, nurturing nature. It has been a pleasure working with her and we wish her every success in her new role. Thank you, Miss Joshelyn.

Royal wedding fever has spread and we enjoyed a fabulous afternoon of music, treats and dance. Everybody wore their own customised crowns. We wish Harry and Megan health and happiness for their future together.

Have a lovely weekend!

We have had a busy and exciting week in Pink classes. In RE we learned about the Ascension and wrote about Jesus going to heaven to be with God. The children also completed some art based on the Ascension. It is also may - the month of Mary- so we have been thinking about Mary and praying to her each day.

It was our second week of SATs and the children have now completed 2 maths and 2 reading papers. The children will have a spelling paper and a punctuation and grammar paper over the next few days so remember to get plenty of rest over the weekend.

We are continuing our topic 'The Great Fire of London' and next week the children will be designing and constructing a home from the 1600's. Each child will need to bring in a shoe box or a similar cardboard box (with windows cut out in advance).

Science Week is also coming up. Our theme is 'Living Things'. If you are available to accompany your child's class on a trip, please contact the class teacher. We are all really excited and cannot wait to learn about all of God's wonderful creatures.

Have a lovely weekend.

It was a special week for us as it was St Joseph the Worker's feast day on Tuesday, May 1st. Father Jeff celebrated a special mass in our school and we all sang hymns in his honour. We are proud to be in St Joseph's and we work hard and always try our best just like him.

Pink 1 and 2 had a special drama workshop in the hall. The children adventured through the jungle and came across many fascinating creatures. They also learned a new language - Banana. It was lots of fun.

We have continued to learn about the Great Fire of London and the children were busy creating their own artistic scenes of the fire. Others found interesting facts about how the fire started and where it all began. We are all thoroughly enjoying this topic.

Year 2 began their SATs this week and completed Paper 1 in Maths and English Reading. They all worked diligently and we are very proud of them. Please take care and rest over the weekend.

See you on Tuesday.

It was Pink Two’s class assembly this week. They retold the story of Katie Morag and he Tiresome Ted - they were brilliant! In RE we have started to focus on Holy Week and have been thinking about the events on Palm Sunday.

It has been science week and the theme is Living Things. The Pink classes have been designing posters linked with living things and the winners were announced today. We have had great fun in maths as we have been doing a lot of practical work because our topic is capacity. We have had fun measuring using standard and non-standard units.

We hope you have a relaxing weekend.

Pink One had a very informative assembly on the season of Lent where they reminded us about the three practices that Catholics try to participate in during this time.

In English we have continued to look at Katie Morag and our big write his week was to retell the story.

In maths we have been thinking about doubling and halving numbers. We know that when you double a number it gets bigger and when you half a number it gets smaller.
