Head's Newsletter

Dear Pupils, Parent, Staff, and Governors,

Welcome back to the new academic year.  I hope that you all had a restful and happy holiday.  It was lovely to see the children on Monday and welcome many new faces. This week has been very busy with everybody settling into their new classes and getting back into the routine of school life.  On 1st September, I celebrated 20 years of teaching – it has gone so quickly and every day has brought something new.  It certainly hasn’t been dull! It is a huge privilege for me to be leading such a wonderful school as St Joseph’s and I would like to thank you for all of your good wishes and tremendous support.  Please keep myself and the rest of the staff in your prayers this year.

We will be celebrating the rich cultural diversity of St Joseph’s at the International Evening on Friday 15th September from 6-8pm.  All are invited to bring a dish from your home country and something to drink.  Children and families are invited.

Thank you to all of you who attended the year curriculum meetings.  I hope you found them informative.  The Power Point presentations will be on the website.  Please see below for dates of the remaining curriculum meetings.

Fr Jeff is joining us on Friday 22nd September at 2:30 in the school hall to celebrate the start of the new school year with a Welcome Mass.  Parents are welcome to join us.

Thank you to all the children who brought flowers to school today to celebrate the birthday of Our Lady.  The classrooms and the school look beautiful.

The children in Blue and Violet classes behaved beautifully during mass this morning and were a credit to the school.

Well done to all of the children who nurtured their sunflowers so well over the summer holiday.  I was amazed to see so many beautiful and very tall sunflowers coming into school this morning.  The child with the tallest sunflower in each class received a hyacinth bulb to grow at home.  Well done to Eva and Martha who grew a sunflower that was 172cm!

Fit For Sport our Breakfast and After School Club is up and running. Please speak to Patrick for further details.

Registration for clubs starts next weekon Tuesday 12th – Thursday 14th and clubs will commence week beginning 18th September.

Church Street Masterplan Consultation

We will be holding a Parent Partnership meeting on Tuesday 19 Septemberstarting at 9am in the school hall, Maddie Cross from Westminster City Council’s Church Street regeneration team will be coming to talk to parents. The council are asking the community for their views on a masterplan for the Church Street area which looks at housing, retail space and the local economy. Please come along to give your feedback.

Please remember that Tuesday 26th September is the School Association AGM, starting at 6pm in the school hall.  All parents are members of the School Association and this meeting is the perfect opportunity to meet people and get involved.  All are very welcome.

On Friday 29th September will be holding our Macmillan coffee morning, in the hall at 8:00. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help so far.  Please bake a cake, bring a croissant and come and join us for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat and raise some money for this very good cause.

Due to Data protection laws, we are unable to circulate personal details (i.e. e mail addresses) of parents in school.  Class Volunteer Coordinators are asked to collate and circulate class details.  The role of the CVC is to help their class teacher organise volunteers for trips and visits.  If you wish to speak to your class teacher about any matter, please make an appointment in the office, or speak to them at the end of the school day.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs K Husain
Headteacher
