Head's Newsletter

Dear children, parents, staff and governors,

At last it feels like summer and we can all enjoy the beautiful sunshine and warmth.  I have reminded the children today that the school has a sunhat as part of our summer uniform and from after the half term I expect this to be brought in everyday.  This is because even if it is a cloudy morning by lunchtime the playgrounds can be sun drenched and hot and children need to have a hat to put on.  I have said no hat, no playtime, if the day is a hot and sunny as today is. So parents please ensure that your child/ren have a school sun hat with them at all times over the next half term.  Also on very sunny days can you ensure that sunscreen has been applied to their arms, legs, neck and face before they come into school.  This one application will see them through the whole day.

On another note, theterrible events in Manchester has meant that we are all on high alert over suspicious packages and people in our area.  I and the staff have re looked at our Critical Incident Plan and we all know what has to be done in the case of an evacuation.  For your information, if the police were to inform me that the school had to be evacuated, the fire alarm would be set off and the staff and children would muster on the playground before very quickly moving to St. George’s School, Lanark Road.  Parents would then receive a message by parentmail asking you to collect your children from St. George’s School.  If on the other hand the police told us to remain in the school, we would go into a Lockdown where no one would leave or enter the school until the police told us it was clear to do so.  Again we would inform you by parentmail if this was to happen. At all times our priority would be the safety of our children and keeping them as unaware of the events as possible whilst maintaining their safety.  Please remember to always update your contact information if you buy a new mobile phone or if your phone number changes.

Also the Auction sleepovers for Years 3 & 5 are fast upon us.  Parents whose children are attending this event should ensure that children are dropped offat 7pm for a Pizza dinner on the relevant Friday,  for Y3 this will be 09/06/17 and Year 5 16/06/17.  Doremember to bring your sleeping bags.  Children should be collected promptly at 8am on the Saturday morning.

I wish you all a very enjoyable half term break.  I look forward to seeing the children on Tuesday 6th June at 8.50am(Monday 5th June is a staff training day).

With kind regards,
Mrs. V. Richardson
