Head's Newsletter

Dear children, parents, staff and governors,

I would like to begin by saying a huge thank you to all of our parents who supported the auction either through the donation of items, through the organisation of the event and for coming along on Saturday evening and being so generous in your support of the auction by bidding and buying items.  As a Head teacher, I can honestly say, that I have never been so overwhelmed by the generosity and support of parents for their school.  The amount of money raised is in the region of £78,000 (once expenses have been paid) and as you know this school relies on the support of our parents to ensure that our children have the best possible education provided for them. Thank you all so much.

It has been a very exciting week in school as we focussed on Science Week.  Miss Dowling, our science subject leader, organised a week of events in which children and teachers worked on  a wide range of experiments that explored the theme of ‘change’.  We were very lucky to have one of our parents, Professor McKendrie, come in and lead a presentation to our keystage 2 children about her work as a scientist at University College London.  At the Achievement assembly, this morning,  Miss Dowling announced and gave prizes to the children from each year group who had carried out exceptional  research work and experiments.  Well done to all of these children.  You can see their photos on the website.

As we continue our journey through Lent, our children are attending classes Masses either in church or in school.  Please see the diary for times and dates for these Masses.

In the last week of term we will be holding our annual Easter Bonnet Parade.  Children are encouraged to make or decorate a hat along the them of spring and new life. The dates and times of these parades are:  Tuesday 4th April at 2.30pm for Early Years and Keystage 1; Wednesday 5th April at 2.30pm for Keystage 2.   Parents are very welcome to come and join us on both days.

Well, enjoy the beautiful weather that has been forecasted for this weekend and Happy Mother’s Day to all our mums and grandmothers.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. V. Richardson
Head teacher
