Run, run, as fast as you can! You cant catch me I'm the gingerbread man!
The Nursery children are continuing to enjoy our focus on traditional stories. This week there have been many learning opportunities especially through baking. We baked with this week's parent helper gingerbread men and finished the week making and decorating a gingerbread house. The children have been exposed to many different ways at retelling a story in their own words - through our role-play room, story table, story stones, story sequencing at carpet time and story dough cutters at the dough table.
Our bean plants have been thriving at Nursery and the children cared for them daily. They were very excited to be able to take them home. We look forward to hearing how they have continued to grow at home. We have transferred our beans from the glass jars into a box and will follow their continued growth at nursery.
We introduced signing in this week and this has been popular with the children. Many of the children have been working hard at their letter formation and are very proud of their achievements, as we are. We have had good feedback from the parents with the take home packs. We will now put out a basket each Friday for the parents to sign for a home learning pack. These are entirely voluntary and are meant to be for fun.
We have been amazed at the complex building the children have been constructing in our block area. Small groups of children have been working together and sharing ideas and have constructed large structures with a planned purpose in mind. Tuesday every block on the shelf was used !!! With the aid of photos the children are now able to independently stack the blocks on the shelf when finished.
Next week we will be looking at the story Little Red Riding Hood. We hope you have restful weekend.
