Head's Newsletter

Dear Pupils, Parent, Staff, and Governors,

I was delighted to receive a letter from Rt. Hon Nick Gibb MP, the Minister of State for School Standards this week. He was writing to congratulate St Joseph’s on our marvellous phonics results.  In the letter he told us that St Joseph’s is in the top 3% of all primary schools in the country for standards in phonics.  The letter went on to say:

‘Your success in teaching phonics means your pupils are developing a firm foundation in reading, from which they can become increasingly fluent and develop a lifelong love of reading.’  Well done us!

Preparations are under way for the Winter Gala which will take place on 25th November this year.  Please join us for this fantastic event – this year the theme is a ‘Royal Christmas’ and there will be food, drink and entertainments.   Tickets can be purchased on line or at the school gates each morning.

On Friday 8th December we will be holding our first ever Christmas Bazaar. Crafts, homemade food and gifts, wreaths and unique luxury gifts will be on sale, all made by local crafts people. .  Please come and support in the school hall between 3-7pm. If you are interested in having a table please send an email to tessagorman1@gmail.com

Parents are reminded that they are not allowed to stop on the zig zag lines outside of school at pick up or drop off. Please call in at the office to collect a pass that allows you to park on a single yellow line.  Parking on the zig zag lines is a hazard and is dangerous.

As you know we are joining with Chesterton’s to provide coats for people in London who may not have a warm winter coat.  If you have any old coats that are still in good condition, you can bring them to school, where we will have a collection point.

May God bless you and family and keep you safe.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs K Husain
Head teacher
