Head's Newsletter

Dear Pupils, Parent, Staff, and Governors,

Thank you to all parents who attended the Open Afternoons.  These are a chance for the children to show and share their work with you.  During our open afternoons, I had the opportunity to visit the classes and share the children’s work – I am in an extremely fortunate position as I get to do this as a routine part of my day-everyday! As always, I was blown away by the enthusiasm of the children, their knowledge, their pride in their own work and the amount of work they produce. The school and the classrooms also looked stimulating, clean, well presented and full of work by the children. This, of course, is in part due to the hard work and dedication of not only the children, but the teachers who inspire them on a daily basis.  I am very grateful to have a staff team who are extremely dedicated and committed to the individual needs of all the children in their care.   They work very hard and I am very, very proud of them and all that they do for the children in our school.

Thank you to everybody who attended the Parent Partnership workshop led by Educational Psychologist Alex Haswell on the importance of play and sleep.  Alex provided us with some very useful information and practical strategies on helping the cognitive development of children.  For those of you who were unable to attend, the presentation is available to read here:

On Monday 13th November at 6pm we will be holding an Open Evening for prospective parents. There will be a talk from the Headteacher and a tour of the school.

I have marvellous news to share with you about the Read-a-Thon. We raised a massive £13300.20 (so far – sponsorship is still coming in).  This is truly amazing and goes to show the effort and commitment of all of our children and families.  Thank you to everybody who read, raised money, counted and reminded us all to sponsor the children. Last year, with the money we raised, we bought I pads for the children to use in class.  This year we will buying new furniture for the classrooms and updating our ICT equipment. Once again, I am overwhelmed by your generosity.  Thank you.

Preparations are under way for the Winter Gala which will take place on 25th November this year.  Please join us for this fantastic event – this year the theme is a ‘Royal Christmas’ and there will be food, drink and entertainments.

I would like to say a special thank you this week to the children in our year 6 class. They led the school this morning in a beautiful, respectful and reverent assembly for Remembrance Day.  Showing maturity beyond their years they read clearly and set such a good example to the rest of the school.  They are an absolute credit.

On Friday 8th December we will be holding our first ever Christmas Bazaar. Crafts, homemade food and gifts, wreaths and unique luxury gifts will be on sale, all made by local crafts people.   Please come and support in the school hall between 3-7pm. If you are interested in having a table please send an email to tessagorman1@gmail.com

As you know we are joining with Chesterton’s to provide coats for people in London who may not have a warm winter coat.  If you have any old coats that are still in good condition, you can bring them to school, where we will have a collection point.

Please check your child’s hair for nits.  We have another outbreak in school.  Boys hair should be short (above the collar) and girls hair, if long, should be tied back. Thank you.

May God bless you and family and keep you safe.

Yours sincerely,
Mrs K Husain
Head teacher
