Head's Newsletter

Dear Pupils, Parent, Staff, and Governors,

Many thanks to everybody who came to support Macmillan through our coffee morning last week.  We raised the marvellous amount of £1601.28. Thank you to everybody who helped, donated and drank coffee.

Poetry Idol was a great success on Friday and it was wonderfully entertaining to listen to children from nursery to year 6 reciting and performing poetry.  Congratulations to all who took part.

On Monday we held our Spirituality Day with a special focus on Fatima.  Children from all year groups produced beautiful art work inspired by Mary and spent time in the new prayer garden.

Year 5 and 6 took part in the Westminster Cross Country event on Thursday and we were very proud that they achieved 2nd place.

Thank you to everybody who contributed to the Harvest Festival.  All donations will be sent to the Passage.

Pink 3 assembly will be on Monday at 9am in the hall.

The next SJSA meeting will take place at 9am on Wednesday 11th October.  Discussion will be the Read-a-Thon.

Parent workshop by the school’s Educational Psychologist, Alexander Haswell:
The Importance of Play and Sleep in Child DevelopmentTuesday November 7th at 9:15am

In this one hour workshop we will discuss the importance of play and sleep in child development. Play allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination and is essential to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of children. It is through play that children at a very early age engage and interact in the world around them. We will also look at the importance of sleep, as evidence shows that night time sleep is just as important as healthy eating and exercise for children to develop.

This will be a practical workshop, offering all parents who attend meaningful strategies and ideas to support their children around these crucial areas. There will be lots of room for questions during the workshop and parents will be invited back later in the academic year to meet again with the educational psychologist, to discuss progress and ask questions / share observations and ideas.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs K Husain
Head teacher
