Year 5 News

Welcome to Spring Term!

Last week, year 5 presented an assembly on West African tales. They introduced the assembly with a traditional West African prayer and explained the importance of the traditional folktales. The class had written their own tale about how the tortoise got its shell, and presented this to the school. Year 5 has now moved onto focusing on Charles Dickens, in particular looking at his novel, Oliver Twist, which is being greatly enjoyed.

During music, students have been experimenting with percussive instruments. Creating interesting sounds and compositions.

This week, being fraction week, students have been exploring adding and subtracting fractions which has been challenging and enjoyable for all! We look forward to sharing our findings in assembly this week.
