Head's Newsletter

Dear children, parents, staff and governors,

I have some wonderful news to tell you all:  we raised £658.50 for the Italian Earthquake victims.  This is all due to our Peace and Justice group children organising the Own Clothes Day and Cake Sale last Friday.  Well done to those children and to all our families who donated so generously. Mrs  Husain will be organising the despatch of this money to the official Italian charity and I will give you further information as soon as I have it.

It was a great pleasure to meet so many parents, over this past week, at the class curriculum meetings. I know that there was a very strong message from all the teachers about children taking responsibility for their own learning by keeping their reading records up to date and doing their homework regularly.  I am sure that you will work with us to enable your children to do so.

Every day I have been at the gates to welcome the children to school and I have noted that we have quite a few latecomers.  As of Monday the gates will be locked at 9am and if you are late with your child you will need to walk around to the Lanark Road entrance and deliver your child there. Also at picking up time, in the evening, please do ensure that you let the teachers know if someone else is picking up your child/ren  i.e. for play nights.

I am looking forward to meeting you all at our International Evening, which will be held on Friday 16th September at 6pm in the school hall.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs V. Richardson
Head teacher
