A message from Mrs. Fleming

Our school is renowned for many reasons – our welcoming Catholic ethos, our supportive parents, the excellent behaviour of our children and our pupils’ high academic performances. Last week this was confirmed once again when the Year 6 SATS results were published. Below you can see our school data compared to national results. The children, the staff and the children’s parents should all be congratulated as this year the SATS presented even more of a challenge than previously. The children were assessed on a new curriculum and the interim assessment arrangements have caused much consternation amongst those in the teaching profession due to their lack of guidance.

Percentage of children who achieved the expected standard in:

National - School
Reading - 66% v 91%
Writing - 74% v 86%
Spelling, punctuation & Grammar - 72% v 97%
Mathematics - 70% v 93%
Reading, Writing and Mathematics - 53% v 86%

We must also congratulate our Year 2 children and those in Reception and everyone who has supported them during their time at our school. Having completed the moderation process with colleagues from the Local Authority we know that the children in both year groups have achieved very highly. At this stage we are unable to provide any details about their achievements in comparison to other schools nationally and locally but I feel sure that this information will be shared with you when it is available in the Autumn term.

I wish you a good week.

Reception Class Assembly

There was a party atmosphere in the school hall on Friday morning when our Reception classes opened our Learning Celebration with their assembly about the countries that all the children come from. We heard about the different traditions, listened to some beautiful singing and marvellous counting, watched some fabulous dancing and saw some wonderful art work. The assembly was not just a celebration of the children’s countries of origin, it was also
enjoyed by everyone in the hall.

Year 6 Cake Sale

Year 6 would like to thank everyone who supported their cake sale. They raised a tremendous £140 and this will be put towards the production of their Year 6 Leavers’ Book.
