Year 2 News

Although it was the final week before the half term holidays, we still applied ourselves fully to all of our learning. Do you know how long a box of smarties is? In Year 2 we have become experts at estimating and measuring accurately to the nearest cm or half cm. Our mental arithmetic skills now include rapid recall of the three times tables.

In English we dramatised and memorised the rich story language found in “Katie Morag and the Tiresome Ted” which had a direct impact on the quality of our own independent writing. In RE we launched our new topic “Thanksgiving” with 2M leading the whole school assembly on Thursday. It was a great opportunity for us to say thank you to so many people who work at St. Joseph’s but in particular Mrs. Cutispoto.

After half term, in English, we will be reading “The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch” by Ronda and David Armitage. In Maths, we will be developing our understanding of the mathematical language of “Time”.

On Friday 26th February, we especially look forward to meeting all of the Year 2 Parents/Carers for the open afternoon/End of KS1 SATs meeting at 2.30pm.
