Head's Newsletter

Dear Children, parents, staff and governors,

I am delighted to tell you that following the After school club survey carried out by Fit For Sport,  we will be having Breakfast Club and After School club here in St. Joseph’s from Monday to Friday beginning on January 9th 2017.  Fit for Sport is an independent business that runs many Breakfast and After school clubs in Westminster.  I am sending you all their details with this newsletter.  The school will be providing the accommodation for this provision but parents will be dealing directly with the company for payment and day to day business. Representatives from Fit For Sport will be at the school on Thursday 1st December at 8.40am giving out flyers.  They give a presentation to parents about their clubs, at 2.30pm on that day in the hall and again will be outside meeting parents at 3.25pm.  This will be your opportunity to see what they have to offer and ask questions about their provision.

On another matter,  I know that many parents have been asking our Class representatives about the voluntary contributions that you pay into the Governors Fundand what happens with this money.  I would like to clarify the matter for you all by saying that these voluntary funds are paid by parents in every Catholic school in the diocese and are used as Capital for any building projects that a school has to carry out.  As a voluntary aided school we are required to pay 10% of any capital project that is undertaken in the school.  For example for the Year 1 Classrooms , recently completed, the school needed to pay £84,000 back to the diocese and so money from the Governors fund as well as money from the St. Joseph’s School Assocation account was used to pay this off.   The Diocese does not prescribe how the money in the Governors Fund is used but they do advise that when we are considering the condition and maintenance of the school buildings we ensure that we have enough contributions to pay the 10% contribution.  Therefore this is a vital part ofour fund raising and I thank parents who have already contributed to it and would ask you to continue doing so.  If you have any queries about setting up a StandingOrderplease speak to Mrs. Harrington in the school office and she will give you the correct form and advice on how to make your voluntary contribution.

A much more exciting part of our fund raising efforts is the Winter Gala.  I am looking forward to seeing you all here, in the school, tomorrow evening.  If would still like to come and haven’t bought your ticket go to Virgin money giving and your ticket will be waiting for you at the door.

Remaining baubles can be collected at pick up and drop off on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th.
New orders of baubles will available at the end of term. I must say a big thank you to the parents who have taken photos and made the baubles up as they are absolutely stunning.

Enjoy the Weekend,
Yours sincerely,

Mrs. V. Richardson
