Year 2 News

Dear Parents/Carers, Yet again we have had another exciting week in Year 2. On Monday we went to visit Our Lady’s Catholic Church. We saw the Baptismal font, the holy water and the Easter Paschal candle. Thank you to all the parents who accompanied us to the church as well as the families who have shared their child’s Baptismal photographs with the class. In topic work: Around the world in 80 Days, we have learned to identify the oceans of the world and facts about Africa. Did you know Africa is the second largest continent in the world? In English we have enjoyed rehearsing our poems for Poet Idol (Wednesday 12th  October) and performing our favourite poems. Next week we will be fine tuning our independent writing skills and completing our own version of “Winnie’s Amazing Pumpkin”. In Mathematics we were sharing calculation strategies for subtraction. Next week we will be exploring the properties of 2D shapes as well as identifying lines of symmetry. On Tuesday 11th October, Year 2M will be visiting the library so if you can help, please contact Mrs. Morrin.
